The following is a repository of all available campus resources for students, faculty and staff that can be found on the UNLV campus. This includes access to diverse student networks, emergency funds, food supplies, person care, and resources for those looking to address issues experienced on campus.

Students who would prefer to report any kind of issue or concern to the Committee of Department Success in the UNLV Geoscience Department can do so by filling out this form

UNLV Food Pantry:

The UNLV Food Pantry was created in 2010 in response to a need from the UNLV community who were facing economic challenges. Since then, the pantry has continued to serve faculty, staff and students throughout the year. The pantry receives over 30,000 pounds of food donations and provides food for nearly 4,500 patrons each year.

Graduate Assistant Grievance:

The Office of Graduate Student Services at the Graduate College assists graduate and professional students with addressing concerns and overcoming personal, academic, or financial challenges that might hinder their ability to be successful in their program.

For most issues (that are not relevant to Title IX or office student rights and responsibilities).

Graduate MENTORS Peer Mentorship Programs:

The Graduate Mentoring Excellence, Nurturing Talents, Opportunities, and Resources for Success (MENTORS) program enhances the UNLV graduate student experience by linking incoming UNLV graduate students with a peer mentor.

Graduate Access Emergency Retention Grants:

The Emergency Retention Grant (ERG) program was established in 2012 and allows graduate students to request emergency funding. Since its inception, the committee has awarded students over $1 million in aid funding to help them progress in and complete their degree program. While funds are limited, such grants are available to all students admitted and enrolled in graduate-level courses.

The Ombuds Office:

The Ombuds Office is a place for informal interpersonal and institutional conflict resolution. In other words, if you aren’t happy or are uncertain about something at UNLV, you can go talk with them.

Title IX Compliance:

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in educational programs and activities that receive Federal financial assistance. Reports of discriminatory misconduct, questions regarding Title IX, and/or concerns about noncompliance with Title IX or any other anti-discrimination laws or policies should be directed to UNLV’s Title IX Coordinator or UNLV’s Title IX Deputy Coordinators.

Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities:

The Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities assists students, faculty and staff with the
conduct code and policy enforcement, serves as a resource to the campus community
surrounding student conflict resolution, and also provides an extensive outreach program that includes presentations such as academic integrity and preventing academic misconduct, conflict resolution and managing disruptive behavior.

Disability Resource Center:

The UNLV Disability Resource Center is committed to support students with disabilities at UNLV through the appropriate use of advocacy, accommodations, and supportive services to ensure access to campus courses, services, and activities.

Mental Health and Wellness:

Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides a variety of services to help students address mental health concerns to make the most out of the college experience.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act(FERPA):

FERPA covers information from “education records,” which are any record, file, document,
and/or other materials containing information directly related to a student that are maintained by the institution or a party acting on behalf of the institution.

UNLV PRACTICE

The UNLV Partnership for Research, Assessment, Counseling, Therapy and Innovative Clinical Education – UNLV PRACTICE – is a dynamic community mental health clinic located on UNLV’s Maryland campus. They offer individual and group psychotherapy, psychological assessments, and specialty clinics to treat a variety of mental health needs..
