Weekly Department Seminar
Each week during the semester, the Geoscience Department hosts a Seminar. Industry leaders from around the world visit UNLV to lecture on their previous research and work to give students and faculty a glimpse into innovative discoveries happening within the Geosciences. Before each seminar, the department hosts Coffee and Tea time to give students and faculty the chance to meet and discuss other news and events happening within the department.
Thesis and Dissertation Defenses
Each semester, a handful of Master’s and Ph.D Students present their graduate school research to the department as a final culmination of their graduate school programs. These defenses are open to the public and are a great way to see what kinds of research the Geoscience Department graduate students are involved in!
22nd Annual Geosymposium
Geosymposium is a yearly symposium held by the Geoscience Department. Graduate and undergraduate students display their ongoing research for industry professionals and representatives. The three-day long event includes a career fair, the symposium, and a field trip, all coordinated by students and faculty of the Department.
