Research Interests:

Dr. Jean Cline’s research interests include the physical and chemical evolution of hydrothermal ore systems, fluid evolution in magmatic systems, and the use of fluid inclusions to constrain ore deposit evolution.

Recent projects have centered on understanding the genesis of Carlin-type and volcanic-hosted gold, Climax-type molybdenum, and porphyry copper systems. Petrography, fluid inclusion analyses, and U-Pb geochronology were recently used to constrain the history of fluid flux at the potential Yucca Mountain high level nuclear waste repository site.

Jean’s research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, and several mining companies including Barrick Mining Corporation, Newmont Mining Company, and Placer Dome Exploration.
