There are many important questions that undergraduate students face as graduation grows near. This workshop is designed to provide our students with the necessary information to assist with making some of these tough decisions. Guest speakers Susie Mason, Paul Dockweiler, and several Graduate Students from the Department of Geoscience will be there to discuss the potential opportunities and career paths available to future graduates. The workshop will conclude with an open Q & A session.

Undergraduate Experience: Core Logging Short Course

Special short course arranged to educate participating students on the mining industry through active participation in activities identical to the everyday work of a mine geologist.

Goals:

1. Students should leave with an understanding of what a drill core is, the proper procedures for annotating or “logging” drill core, and how proper core logging can assist in mine development, ore control and mineral extraction.

2. To obtain a firm grasp on the everyday role of a mine geologist and their contribution to a mining venture.

3. To educate students about careers in geoscience.
