Dr. Margaret Rees' Spring of 2000 Principles of Stratigraphy and Sedimentology class used the SEM to investigate sandstones from Red Rock.   They collected samples of the red and white sandstone.   BSE image of a grain of hematite in the red sandstone at 500x magnification. SE image of kaolinite in the white sandstone, at 1,800x magnification. SE image of the red sandstone at 2,300x magnification. SE image of the white sandstone at 170x magnification.
