Nevada Test Site Field Trip - April 12, 2007
Field trip participants in front of the North Portal (main entrace to the Exploratory Studies Facility or ESF). The group in front of the middle of the massive tunnel boring machine (TBM) that was used to drill the ESF. Surface exposure of the Ghost Dance Fault. The Ghost Dance Fault is a major north-south trending normal fault that cuts through to the repository block. Quaternary movement is not suspected. Beautifully exposed outcrop of the Miocene-aged Rainier Mesa Tuff. The group overlooking Sedan Crater. Sedan Crater Group photo in front of the Apple II House. This photo would have been a lot cooler if you couldn't see the bus in the background (oh well). |
