The STAR Consortium is an Industrial Affiliates Consortium run by the Geoscience Department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Started in 2010, the research group grew out of earlier projects conducted in the La Popa basin (NE Mexico) that were conducted in conjunction with the Institute of Tectonics Studies at New Mexico State University. The group is headed by Dr. Andrew Hanson, and it specializes in documenting and understanding temperature histories around salt structures, as well as fluid migration adjacent to salt structures.
