Research Interests
Dr. Weide's areas of research interest are urban geologic hazards including
flood hazards, unstable soils, tectonic-seismic hazards, and mass movement.
Current research involves the Quaternary and surficial geology of the
Gass Peak SW 7.5minute Quadangle, Clark Co., Nevada. Most of this quadangle
will soon fall under intensive urban development. Related projects include
the geology of the Blue Diamond NE 7.5 minute Quadangle, Clark Co., Nevada
and the geology of the Blue Diamond SE 7.5 minute Quadangle, Clark Co.,
Nevada. These quadangles contain the urbanized west boundary of the Las
Vegas Valley.
