Department of Geoscience faculty frequently work with members of the Las Vegas community and far beyond. Faculty, such as Dr. Steve Rowland, have served as advisors on committees to federal agencies looking to protect special resources in the valley like Tule Springs. Dr. Brenda Buck has helped develop 6^th thru 12^th grade outreach projects. Dr. Jean Cline has worked extensively with the Yucca Mountain Project. Others, like Drs. Catherine Snelson and Wanda Taylor, have sat on committees related to earthquake hazards. Dr. Dave Kreamer helped evaluate hydrologic processes at Yucca Mountain early in the project's development. Drs. Peg Rees and Wanda Taylor have assisted the Red Rocks National Conservation area in developing a site specific geology guide (Geologic Guide to Red Rock Canyon).
