GEOL 477: Metallic Ore Deposits
Class Field Trip, October 9-11, 2009

Adam Simon and Jean Cline led their ore deposits class to the Mt. Hope molybdenum mine near Eureka, NV, and the Goldstrike Carlin-type gold deposit near Carlin, NV. Students spent time in the open-pit deposit as well as touring the largest underground gold mine in North America. This is only one example of how field work/trips are incorporated into all undergraduate courses at UNLV.
