LAS VEGAS, NEVADA

We are excited to announce that the tenth Pan-American Current Research on Fluid Inclusions (PACROFI) conference will be held on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA from June 7th through June 10th, 2010. The meeting is the ideal venue for presenting fluid and melt inclusion research. We invite academic, industry, and government researchers who use fluid and/or melt inclusions to unravel the evolution of geologic systems. Please also note that the PACROFI conference is being held the week directly preceding the Goldschmidt Conference in Knoxville, TN, USA.

Registration includes the icebreaker, conference dinner, and daily beverages during the oral and poster sessions. Payment for registration, field trips, and short courses is being handled by Michelle Baker in the UNLV Division of Educational Outreach. *Students: $50.00 (must supply documentation of current student status to Michelle.Baker@unlv.edu)

*Early-Career Scientists: $200.00 (less than five years post PhD; must supply PhD date to Michelle.Baker@unlv.edu)

Professionals: $385.00

*We have obtained limited funding to reduce the registration cost for students and early-career scientists. We can not guarantee the discounted rate for all student and/or early-career scientist attendees. We encourage you to register early and provide documentation as to your student/career status to ensure the discounted rate.

Housing in the UNLV Campus Hotel is $35.00 double occupancy and $55.00 single occupancy per night based on a four night minimum stay.

Guests will check-in at Tonopah Hall (Building #21 on the map), and stay in Hughes Hall Building A (Building #18 on the map).

Session 4: Shallow crustal fluids: Geothermal and shallow sedimentary environments

Session 5: The contribution of fluids to the formation of ore deposits

PRE-MEETING FIELD TRIP
June 3-6, 2010: Carlin-type Gold Deposits

This four day field trip will visit world class Carlin-type gold deposits of north-central Nevada. The cost includes one dinner at a Basque restaurant, lunch each day, breakfast on days 2, 3, and 4, transportation, and lodging. Participants are responsible for the cost of evening dinners on nights 2 and 3.

Cost: $485.00 double occupancy; $635.00 single occupancy

PRE-MEETING SHORT COURSE

We anticipate offerring the following short course. Details are being finalized and will be posted soon.

June 6-7, 2010: Professor Bob Bodnar, Virginia Tech: Applications of Fluid and Melt Inclusions in Ore Deposits Research and Exploration. This course will run from 9:00am - 5:00pm on June 6, and from 9:00am - 12:00pm on June 7. Participants are responsible for lodging and meals.

Cost: Students $50; Early-Career Scientists and Professionals $100

POST-MEETING FIELD TRIP
June 11-12, 2010

This two day field trip will explore the physical and chemical links between the Wilson Ridge Pluton and River Mountains volcanic area in the Colorado River Extensional Corridor. This field trip will be run as two one-day trips from the UNLV campus. The cost for this field trip includes lunch and transportation, but participants are responsible for lodging and other meals.

Cost: $250.00
